Employee Recognition 2017

On September 27, Life-Skills, Inc. honored 39 employees who have celebrated milestone anniversaries in 2017 at a special dinner at Point Breeze Restaurant in Webster, MA.  The collective years of their service totals 390 years!

Tom Amick, CEO of Life-Skills, Inc., highlighted the great team of human service professionals who contribute to the success of the agency.  “Those of you sitting in this room are the future of this corporation.  You have chosen a career in human services because of your compassion and your personal motivation to teach and support individuals whose capacity for learning and self-care is limited.  Through everything that happens in this corporation, the one constant is the need for caring, understanding, and competent staff.  Thank you, your value and importance to this corporation and to the individuals who we support, is beyond measure.”

Congratulations to all celebrating these important milestones – we look forward to your ongoing contributions and a bright and successful future together!

Starting on October 6, 2016 Webster Five launched a customer-centric philanthropic promotion called “Share the Care” as part of their ongoing commitment to supporting the needs of nonprofits within the community. Through this promotion, Webster Five invited customers and members of the community to nominate and vote for three local nonprofits for a chance to receive part of the $5,000 Web of Caring donation. The nonprofit with the most votes receives $2,500, second place receives $1,500, and third place receives $1,000.

The $5,000 donation is a special addition to their Web of Caring to Make a Difference program, which regularly provides grants to local community organizations through the Webster Five Foundation. Webster Five’s Web of Caring to Make a Difference program reinforces the bank’s long-standing initiative to give back to the community by supporting local organizations that are making a difference. The way the bank sees it, investing in their community pays dividends for everyone.

The “Share the Care” promotion was broken into two rounds – a nomination and voting period. Customers and community members had the opportunity to nominate a local nonprofit through Facebook, or in any of the seven Webster Five branches. There were 116 organization names submitted during the nomination period. The top five nonprofits with the most nominations were opened up for voting on November 1st to decide the three winners. The Bank was pleased with the participation, were 567 people who casted their votes to determine the three winners.

Congratulations to the following winners:

1st Place Winner – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central MA/MetroWest who provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

2nd Place Winner – Life-Skills, Inc. who provides day habilitation programs, residential and vocational services to adults with developmental, emotional, and intellectual disabilities.

3rd Place Winner – The CASA Project, Inc. who recruits, trains and supervises volunteers who are appointed by a judge to serve as guardians to abused and neglected children in the Worcester County Juvenile Court System.

Donald F. Doyle, President and Chief Executive Officer of Webster Five, stated, “Webster Five has a long standing tradition of focusing on what is important to the customers and the communities that we serve. This promotion is an exciting new way to guide our ongoing philanthropic activities and extend our impact in meaningful ways.”
