Since 1996 Life-Skills, Inc. has been assisting unemployed and underemployed Worcester County residents acquire and maintain meaningful employment in a variety of appropriate work environments. It’s continued success is the result of working closely with the community and it’s association with Government Agencies. Two parallel vocational assistance programs have been developed in order to ensure the best possible level of service is provided to each and every client. One of our programs concentrates on referrals from the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) while the other focuses on SSA’s Ticket to Work Incentive.

Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) Program

Life-Skills, Inc. is under contract with the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) to provide a wide variety of vocational services through its local offices. In order to receive our services, an individual must be a client of and referred to us by MRC. Certain requirements must be met in order to qualify to be a MRC individual and there is presently a waiting period once qualified. Ticket to Work Incentive Program

finding meaningful employmentThis vocational program focuses on assisting job seekers (referred to as Ticket Holders or Beneficiaries) who are between the ages of 18-64, and receive benefits from the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Insurance (SSI). It is a self-referral program. In other words, the job seeker contacts Life-Skills, Inc. directly and there is no waiting period for qualified job seekers. Also, there is no charge of any kind or at any time to the Ticket Holder for services!

Typical Services:

Skills and goals identification
Assistance with finding solutions to barriers
Resume writing
Job and job lead development
Application assistance – written and/or electronic as needed
Interview preparation – including mock interviewing
Post-employment supports

Advantages:

No waiting period – services start immediately for qualified Ticket Holders 
This is a long term support program focused on the client being successful 
Life-Skills, Inc. is an established, experienced Service Provider; recognized by the community 

The Process:

Follow the instructions on our brief background online questionnaire or contact Ticket to Work Employment Service Provider directly at (508) 943-0700 ext. 2171 to discuss options for getting started.

Once our office receives the completed questionnaire, and if qualified to receive services, the applicant will then be contacted and a meeting to develop an Individual Work Plan (IWP) will be arranged. This plan will be tailored to individual needs and ability with the goals of becoming and staying employed in an appropriate position.

Once the IWP is agreed upon, job seeking services start immediately.
