*PT-$250 upon hire and $250 after 6 months.

Qualifications:

Experience with target population required.
Strong ability to work independently and efficiently/Self starter
Good time management skills
High School diploma or GED will be accepted.
Valid Driver’s License is required.
Acceptable CORI, fingerprinting, and driving record background checks.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to physically perform two person lifts and lift up to 40lbs independently.

Cognitive Requirements:

Ability to communicate clearly in spoken and written English. Ability to successfully complete Orientation Training and acquire Medication Administration certification within the 90-day probationary period.

Provides transportation for individuals as needed with their own personal vehicle, that is in good working order, in the event that the program van is not available or is in use. The agency provides mileage reimbursement for the use of personal vehicles.

The Residential Counselor Responsibilities: Direct Care with routine tasks & responsibilities includes:

1. Teaching Programs

2. Attend medical appointments and provide clear report of outcomes to Program Manager/team

3. Emergency intervention as needed

4. Applying for and maintaining SNAP/fuel assistance/MassHealth, etc.

5. Respects the Human Rights, dignity and principles of confidentiality of all individuals served by Life Skills and DDS;

6. Fosters positive and productive professional relationships with others within the agency;

7. Builds relationships with others external to the agency (ie: DDS, parents/guardians, vendors, other agencies, etc.);

8. Supports individual’s social, recreational, spiritual, cultural and personal growth;

9. Assistance with ADL’s

10. Accessing Community/public transportation.

11. Community socialization/outings/activities and positive role modeling

12. Attends and participate in all required training’s and meeting’s and maintains all required certifications (CPR, First Aid, PABC, MAP);

13. Completes necessary paperwork (ie: incident reports, status assessments, progress notes, data sheets, medical sheets, Emergency Fact and Identification Sheets, time sheets, etc.) thoroughly and timely;

14. Provide assistance to individuals in communication skills, sexuality and relationships, money management, housekeeping, food preparation and nutrition, emergency and safety skills, human rights, clothing care, shopping, self-medication training, travel, problem solving, health maintenance and community integration;

15. Complies with all Agency Policies, Procedures, Guidelines and Regulations to ensure safety for oneself as well as the individuals;

16. Performs additional related responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements: Must be at least 18 years old with a High School Diploma or GED as well as a valid driver’s license and good driving record, reliable transportation and the ability to pass a CORI and background check. Must be able to pass all required trainings including Medical Administration Program (MAP), CPR and First Aid. EOE/AA
