Positive Behavior Speacialist (PBS Coordinator)

Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Travel required.

SupervisorDirector of Clinical Services

Qualifications:

Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology/Human Services with at least one year of experience working with individuals with Intellectual Disability and/or mental illness.

A Non-Degreed individual will be considered assuming:

  • 5+ years working with D/D population; and
  • There is evidence of progress towards a college degree.

Candidates must have knowledge of applied behavior analysis principles and have acceptable CORI and driving record checks.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 50 pounds alone, and to lift 51-300 pounds with the assistance of adaptive equipment.

Ability to transfer consumers and to utilize a full range of body motion.

Ability to tolerate sustained periods of walking, standing, sitting.

Ability to participate in physical restraints and/or redirections of consumers.

The Positive Behavior Support Specialist:

1. Fosters positive and productive professional relationships with others within the agency.

2. Builds relationships with others external to the agency (i.e. DDS, provider agencies, and other PBS staff).

3. Has extensive knowledge of Positive Behavior Support principles and stays current with evolving practices.

4. Acts as an appropriate role model for consumers and staff and supports the agency’s mission and values.

5. Attends and participates in all required trainings and meetings (i.e. program staff meetings, supervisory meetings, Leadership Team Meetings, screening committee meetings, etc.).

6. The PBS Specialist will be involved in all aspects of PBS implementation within the agency. In addition to providing content expertise in PBS practices and implementation, the PBS Specialist will guide and encourage teams at all support levels as they implement PBS.

7. The PBS Specialist attends as many PBS team meetings as needed and facilitates communication among teams, members, and other areas of the agency.

8. Conducts PBS Trainings in accordance with DDS initiative recommendations / regulations.

9. Develops and Implements agency use of the Quality of Universal Support Checklist (QUIC) tool and completes appropriate training and overseeing in association with the QUIC.

8. Designs data collection systems; compiles and presents data.

9. Complies with all policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
